Peachtree Pointe at Lake Lanier Islands: Kristen & Shaadi's Wedding {9.15.2018}

While the weather may have been only semi-cooperative, the day turned out beautifully and this sweet couple had a wonderful time in spite of the drizzle. It dried up enough that the bride could wear both trains (the one built into her dress plus a huge, heavy confection of tulle that pinned right above her hips for the ceremony) and mud wasn't an issue. I've been seeing more and more bridesmaids with the convertible jersey dresses, and I think that burgundy and emerald are going to be THE colors for weddings this year. It's a nice break from nude and millennial pink. Especially for the guys. It was fun seeing gold paired with green, definitely both elegant and unique. And I can't get over the fact the couple has been dating for 12 YEARS--yes, you read that right. They grew up across the street from each other, were high school sweethearts, and the rest is history.

I loved how the floral designer gave the reception area an exotic desert flair with the elevated ferns--don't they look like palm trees??--and gold accents mimicking the patterns and glitter of golden sand. There was also the inspired touch of having jumbo ballons outside that had vines of ivy instead of ribbon for string. So pretty. The dessert tables were amazing--I think there were 15 or 20 different kinds of pastries, candies and chocolates that were both pretty and decadent, in addition to a really cool wedding cake. Can I mention how amazing the dinner was? I knew Palestinians had a love affair with cuisine and the dessert bar was my first clue that yep, they are as serious about variety as they are flavor--but wow the buffet blew my expectations out of the water: prime rib, gyro meat, lobster macaroni, stuffed chicken, grilled goat, and a salmon that was beyond delicious...I'm probably forgetting a couple meats but those at least are the ones I tried. Yes, I'm a total foodie, so this wedding was right up my alley.

I spent most of the day with the groom and his groomsmen and we chatted about everything from our world travels (the groom and his brother were waaaay more well-traveled than I am at this point) to clothing to which tequila is the best. They were also very interested in what my typical weddings are like and wanted to know stories of the funniest, best, worst, etc things I've seen on the job. I think I may have disappointed them a bit, since I don't really have any crazy experiences; my wedding clients have been pretty chill as a whole. The groom impressed me with how much he cared about all the little details of the reception, the fires he put out (rather than telling them to call the bride and have HER panicking and not able to do anything from afar) and his calm throughout the day. All in all, it was a fun day!
